Types of Apparitions
apparition - the manifestation of the soul of someone that has passed.
deathbed apparitions - deceased loved ones who appear 2 to 3 days before death. They aid in guiding you toward the light and in the transition of another level of continuing life of the soul.
guardian apparitions - comforting or usually a family member that has passed. During a crisis or near death they will appear. Many people have reported that they have seen a family member telling them it will be okay or it’s not their time yet. They are our guardians and they are there whenever we need them.
lady in white - this is an apparition of a woman usually wearing white. They are said to be in great sorrow over love, still searching for that person.
residual hauntings - this is not an apparition at all. They do not make any contact with the living. For example: seeing the same ghost over and over, at the same time of the day, such as a murder happening or a violent death. It is an atmospheric condition. This will fade away but could take many years or even decades.
animal spirits - all living creatures have a soul. You may hear a bark from a family dog, or a cat’s meow, or actually see them in spirit form.
elementals - these are nature spirits of the 4 elements. Earth, air, fire and water.
orbs - these appear as circular and transparent. This is another form of spirit energy. They are very commonly captured on film. They can be stationary, floating or seen moving something like a shooting star.
vortex - a vortex appears very bright and looks like a funnel or comet. These are also commonly captured on film. Some theories are they could be numerous orbs traveling together.
ectoplasm - this is a type of mist, or fog, that appears to have movement in its depths. It is usually a light shade of gray, like cigarette smoke or exhaled breath in the winter, but can come in several colors. It floats through the air and can stay stationary or move extremely fast. It has been said that a spirit will usually take this form before appearing as an apparition.
shadow people - these appear as a shadow of a person or indefinite form. No one knows whether they are good or evil. People have sensed both. They disappear as quickly as they form. Many have been captured on film.
poltergeists - the word poltergeist is german for noisy spirit. Poltergeists are mischievous to very dangerous, they are responsible for electrical disturbances, objects flying across the room, doors opening/closing and other annoyances. The last stage of the poltergeist is very dangerous, causing physical assaults, biting, scratching and slapping. Poltergeist activity usually centers around a person under 20 years old with severe emotional problems.
incubus - an evil male spirit. They sexually assault their female victims during sleep.
succubus - an evil female spirit that sexually assaults male victims during sleep.
Both the incubus and succubus are very rare. They give a feeling of being pinned down, unable to move or speak. They are associated with sleep paralysis.
demons - the word demon means “knowing” They are creatures of the dark and are pure evil. Demons are in every culture as far back as biblical times. They are said to work for the devil. They tempt, lie, deceive and are never at rest until they possess a living body. They can come in many forms.

Infrared thermal scanner - registers the temperature changes. Useful in finding cold spots
35 mm camera - I prefer 800 speed or black and white film. Do not use digital cameras, they do not have negatives to study.
Camcorder & tripod - a night vision adaptor which snaps onto the camcorder lens is convenient for night recording
Ion counter - measures the positive and negative ions in the air
Tape recorder - for evp (electronic voice phenomena). Some spirits voices can actually be heard on tape.
Compass - it will go haywire in presence of spirit activity, but also in a magnetic field
Small wind chimes - for detecting any movement
Cotton balls or small balloons - also for detecting movement
Talcum powder or flour - sprinkle in a high activity area for any foot or hand prints
